  • I agree with you on that. Here in South Carolina, our teachers have become very active in the political process and are refusing to be ignored. We need to stand behind our teachers and let the government know that we don't support cuts to education funding.

  • Spo de o de, the NEA is not eligible to make political contributions. Federal law prohibits unions from using dues money or other assets to contribute to or otherwise assist federal candidates or political parties, in accordance with their tax-exempt status.

  • "Surprise Jump"??? I wasn't surprised at all. This is just the first week of a spike in jobless claims. It's more than likely a result of all the teachers that are being laid-off. We'll only see more and more in the next few weeks as teachers start to get their pink slips.

  • bopdaddytoo these teachers choose to have their pay checks spread out over a 12 month period. Their pay scale is still only based on the months that they work.
